Meet the Team!
As of September 2017, Juniper Editing & Creative is thrice the size it was in June! Meet the rest of the women who make this business (and, quite honestly, my life) a whole lot better every day.
Copy Editor; Editing Ninja
Hayley came on board in June, the first addition to the JEC team. She and I have worked together in various ways since we undertook our Master's degrees alongside each other some five years ago. We’ve co-worked in numerous capacities since; she was the first person I called to recruit to my freelance team when I became Senior Editor in-house, just as she was the first person I hired for JEC.
Along with an MA and five years' experience as an Editor and Writer, as Copy Editor Hayley brings a level of meticulousness to mechanical editing that's rarely detectable in humanoid forms. She is the intellectual introvert to my ebullient extrovert; the yin to my professional yang.
As the first quarter of our new arrangement comes to a close, Hayley’s presence has allowed the number of projects JEC takes on to increase significantly, and allowed me greater breathing space to work out JEC’s next moves and spend more time looking at the big picture. Her skills and talents are an invaluable addition.
Auxiliary Editor Extraordinaire
Thanks to some exciting new contracts and the increased volume of work coming in, this September we welcome a third editor to the party! Ceilidh was my predecessor when we worked in-house, and she later transitioned to my freelance team—once she’d trained me up. She is an extremely rigorous editor with an amazing client-communication style and all-around dedication to immaculate work.
Aside from five years’ experience working in the publishing and editing industries, she has a BA in English literature, an Editing Certificate from Simon Fraser University, and is currently completing her Masters degree in Professional Communications. I’m thrilled that she’s agreed to join us as Auxiliary Editor though she is in high demand in a number of other impressive professional and academic capacities.
Content Writer; Communications Specialist
I inherited Jaime when I fell in love with my husband; they’ve been friends since high school, and it wasn’t long until we became fast friends ourselves. Aside from that, Jaime is a talented researcher, a gifted writer, and another dedicatee to the arts, both written and otherwise.
With a BA in Art History and a Master of Museum Studies from University of Toronto, she’s my guru for all things communications. Jaime will also be writing for the JEC blog and generally showing me what’s what when it comes to all things online marketing. I’m so happy she agreed to come on board.
Another alumni from my in-house publishing days, Rebecca is a savvy marketing specialist with experience across a variety of industries. She joins the team as a social media consultant and business development strategist. While I’ve got my head in a pile of papers, she’s looking up at the stars for me. I’m hardcore excited to see what she’s got in store for us.
Thanks must also go to Kim Jay of Kim Jay Photography, who consistently helps me look like a responsible adult on camera, and to Emily Juniper—my sister from the same mister (our dad, don’t you know) and loyal resident of the UK, unlike her sis—whose lightning-fast and -sharp research skills are making a hell of a humbling difference in all kinds of ways.
This sh*t takes a village y'all. A global village nonetheless.
